Mid Argyll
Mid Argyll offers a massive range of different types of fishing, whether you’re a freshwater or saltwater angler you will never be bored.

Freshwater
With well over 100 fishable lochs with a hours radius of Lochgilphead, mid Argyll is a relatively hidden paradise to anglers, Here at Fyne tackle we can offer you the very best local advise on waters that we ourselves fish very regularly. There is many hill lochs teaming with Brown Trout locally and we can supply permits to most of them. Methods are mostly fly fishing but some will allow other legal methods.

Location
We are only twenty minutes from the south end of Loch Awe which is one of the largest freshwater lochs in Scotland at twenty two miles long. Loch Awe supports Brown trout, rainbow trout, Salmon, Pike, Perch, Roach and the renowned ferox trout. Boats can be hired on the loch from various marinas. Ghillies can also be hired through us if you want some experience or tuition. Loch Awe is also very popular with Pike anglers. Any legal method allowed.

Good catches of Sea trout are also reported in mid Argyll but like the Salmon fishing can be very seasonal. The salmon runs here are very dependent on weather conditions as all the rivers are Spate Rivers, but hit it on the right conditions and you could be in heaven. Most Salmon fishing is fly only.

Salt Water
The rugged Argyll coastline is perfect for Pollock fishing and 10lb fish are not uncommon, Sea species include Mackerel, Pollock, Cod, Coal fish, Wrasse, Conger, common skate, Rays, dogfish, Mullet, Sea bass, Tope, sea trout, Ling and of course crabs.
The east side of Kintyre is more sheltered than the west and good catches of shore caught mackerel, Pollock, dogfish and cod constantly being reported.

The west side of Kintyre is more rugged so is perfect for specimen size fish, several charter boats operate close to Lochgilphead and the contact details for them can be obtained from us.
